Northern light at the Sólheimasandur plane wreck
En 1973, un avion de l'US Navy Américaine tomba en panne d'essence et s'écrasa sur la plage de sable noir à Sólheimasandur,dans le sud de l'Islande. Heureusement, tous les occupants de ce DC-3 survécurent. Plus tard, on apprit que le pilote avait simplement basculé une vanne sur le mauvais réservoir de fuel!
L'épave n'a ni ailes, ni queue ni moteurs; et son nez est très endommagé... mais ça n’empêche pas les aurores boréales de tournoyer autour pour notre plus grand plaisir.
